A field of 16 pairs contested the sponsorship trials over two sessions on 23 & 25th February.
The overall winners were Bill Tucker and Alan Douglas on 200.5 matchpoints closely followed by Roman Smolski and Vera Petty on 196.5. Craig Hutton and Steve Ball were joint third with David Cordon and Julia Lunn on 177.5 and these two pairs completed the qualifiers in the open field.
In the 0-1000 masterpoint bracket, the winners were Dick Meredith and Gordon Bussell on 172.5. Misha Novakovic and Paul Thompson were second on 160.5 followed by Deb Randall & Greg Carey who were third on 153.
Lorna Anderson & Margaret Kirk completed the qualifiers in the 0-300 masterpoint bracket by finishing third on 151.5.
Congratulations to all the qualifiers and a special "well-done" to Lorna and Margaret who can be justly proud of their efforts over the two sessions finishing ahead of several much more experienced pairs. This bodes well for the future of the club,
